Police investigate human remains found on Michigan reservation

Grand Traverse Band Tribal Police are investigating after human remains were found Aug. 8 in a wooded area on the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians reservation in Leelanau County, Michigan. The Record-Eagle, citing a tribal police statement, reported the discovery occurred in Peshawbestown. Officials did not release the person’s identity or details about the circumstances of the death, saying further disclosure could compromise the investigation. The FBI, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Michigan State Police, MSP Crime Lab and Grand Traverse Band Fire Department are assisting with the investigation, according to the tribal police statement.

Southfield restaurant shooting kills two, injures one
